Living in the past/Living in the future!
Do you live in the past or in the future?!
Our brain usually wonders either in the past or in the future, for some reasons for most of us it is hard to live in the present.
Do you ever question yourself what it is bothering you so much that you don’t like to be here at this particular moment, to be aware every second! Why do we believe that the past is better than the present and why do we think that the future will be better than this moment?!
I was writing this article for someone I loved the most, for the most important man in my life, my beloved father. In that short, heartfelt piece of article, I was going back and forth in the past and in the future, completely avoiding the present. At that time I was not aware of doing so, somebody noticed it and he pointed the lingering truth.
And I knew I could not be happy at that moment, because I lost him physically and I thought I could not bear the pain. (Also I have Moon opposite Pluto in my natal chart, but that’s another story 😊).
The best and the sad part it is that most of us live either in the past or in the future without knowing it, we can live so many lifetimes fooling our-self. When I am actually thinking in those two conditioned times (past & present), I am escaping from the present, because I think that happiness it is somewhere else, I deceit myself thinking that the other moment will be amazing compared to this one.
Therefore, I continuously practice going from the past to the future, totally losing track with the present and it feels good and it feels right. I am living in illusion and I am feeding it through practicing it on a daily basis. Hmmm
Accepting the truth it is half of the process through changing the habit, I myself have created. I hope you get my point. It is in your hands to change it, and mindfulness it is one of the best techniques that will help you switch the gears and be content whenever and whoever you are with. Or at least you will accept the truth as it is, running from it, it will not make it disappear.
There is no better than this moment, and the previous one was not better than this one. Think about it, if the past was better than this moment, this moment it is going to become the past in another moment, so don’t you see it is not better than this one. Besides that when we became present, we are free of regrets, we do not go back in our mind to fix anything we could not because we where to busy to think of the past, or of the future, so when we miss the opportunity to be in the present, we miss life little by little, we miss what it is in front of us because we are wondering somewhere we do not belong anymore.
In this case, one must practice mindfulness, awareness, and meditation it is way better! Until you master it!
Here are a few things that can help you bring your attention to this present moment. Whenever your mind it is taking you by default, bring it home.
Whenever you are right now, stop doing what you are doing and look around you, seriously just look around. Touch any object that it is closest to you, describe the texture. Notice your breathing, take few deep breaths in and let go. With your thumb touch your fingers one by one and put a bit of pressure, it will remove any uncomfortable sensation. Notice if there is any tension in your body and release it. Eat something (your choice) and try to explain the taste or you can simply focus on how the eating process works…
There are many many practical ideas out there if you try to practice at least one of them daily your lifestyle will change drastically and you will be free from the chains of the mind. This moment, right now, is the best moment! Love ❤️❤️❤️
